SEWING FOR A CAUSE – Support Our Local Veterans

2nd and 4th Fridays

Last year, Lisa Gualtieri visited the shop to tell us about the Syracuse VA In-Home Respite Caregiver Support Program.  Lisa says, “When I visit a Veteran and their family for the first time with their volunteer, I give them a quilt and tell them that someone made the quilt to say ‘Thank you for your service’.

Join us on open sew days at the shop on the second and fourth Fridays of the month at 10am to sew quilts for the VA Medical Center caregiver program.

Stop in to sew and receive a 10% shop discount on all your purchases on sew days.

3rd Fridays 10am – 12pm

Ready to explore the world of English Paper Piecing?  Or have you already caught the bug and want to learn more?  Then come join our English Paper Piecing (EPP) Club.  Bring your project and enjoy the company of other hand-stitchers.  If you want to learn, Nancy Austin will help get you started and she also helps us research new patterns and design trends for today’s quilters.

From the classic Grandmother’s Garden blocks to today’s beautiful millefiori fabric patterns, English paper piecing has appealed to quilters for several generations.  Perhaps because it is portable and relaxing or because of the popularity of today’s “slow quilting” movement, EPP is once again being embraced by quilters.  There is no charge for the meeting.

3rd Fridays  12 – 2pm

And for our wool enthusiasts, our Wool Club meets at noon on the 3rd Fridays of the month.  This is a fun group with no limit to their excitement and enjoyment of wool work!  Hand stitchers of all levels are welcomed.  There is no charge for the meeting.

1st Mondays    10am – 12:30pm

Bring your own knitting project and enjoy the company of other knitters. The Monday Knitters also collect food for the Marcellus Food Pantry so bring along your donation and we will deliver it for you.

Please call if the weather is questionable. Someone is in the store 315-673-2208 by 9:45am or call Kitsie at 607-745-3127(cell) by 9:15am.

Marcellus MODERN Quilt Club

2nd Sundays  1pm

The Marcellus MODERN Quilt Club (MMQC) meets at the shop on the second Sunday of the month to explore the new modern quilt movement.  Its 25 members inspire each other, always encouraging to “think out of the box”, and share new ideas and resources.  Guest speakers and workshop teachers teach new techniques like improv piecing, color placement and using contempoary fabrics to update traditional blocks.  Stop in at a meeting and see if this group is for you!
